SPRING WORKDAY 2005

DATE: 14 MAY 2005

TIME:  8:00am-3:30pm

LOCATION: Redford Cemetery

The Redford Cemetery began 2005 with a relatively clean south fence line, a few residual debris piles left over from the fall cleanup, and some small piles of material accumulated along the east fence line.  Additionally, there was a substantial quantity of bark, branches, twigs, etc, that remained on the ground around the stump of the large elm tree adjacent to the southernmost driveway in the new section of the cemetery, and the remainder of the cemetery fence line had yet to be cleared of brush and overgrowth.

Addressing these issues was the goal of the May 14, 2005, workday.  At this workday a wood chipper was rented from Home Depot and volunteers put it to good use, chipping the piles of branches left unchipped from the fall cleanup, along with the material that fell during the winter months.  All remaining bark, twigs, and branches laying on the ground around the Elm stump was collected, hauled out, and disposed of - four cubic yards in all!  And the north fence line was cleared more than halfway back to the rear fence.  Regrettably, a sudden downpour in the mid-afternoon brought the work to a wet, premature halt.  None the less, much was accomplished and the volunteers left pleased, happy, and soaking wet!
